Why sign up with Worldwide Teaching? Our dedicated consultant James taught at an international school in Singapore for 4 years and lived in South-East Asia for 6 years, and he thoroughly enjoyed his time there. He believes that Singapore is a fantastic place to live and teach, whether it’s your first overseas role or if you already have international experience. He knows the country inside out and can advise on the benefits of moving and working there.

Why move to Singapore? It’s known for its high quality of life and safety, and is the perfect place to raise a family. Although there is often an unfair perception that Singapore is one big city on an island, there are plenty of green spaces like parks and nature reserves, and it’s often known as ‘The Green City’. James used to enjoy taking a picnic to the Botanic Gardens on a Sunday or biking down the Green Corridor. As a major travel hub, it offers affordable flights to many destinations, meaning that a weekend trip to Thailand or Bali is very affordable and convenient, and it’s also easy to fly ‘home’. There are diverse dining options, from delicious, cheap food in the local hawker cities to the many Michelin-starred restaurants.. Singapore has a thriving expat community, making it a great place to meet people from all over the world.

There are a range of international schools in Singapore, from new and growing start-ups to world-renowned, elite academic establishments. In terms of benefits, what can you expect? Singaporean international schools will generally offer a very high salary with good saving potential, although it's worth noting that the cost of living in Singapore is high, which is why salaries are generally much higher than the surrounding countries. You’d also receive help with housing, usually in the form of an accommodation allowance, medical insurance, flights to and from the country (either annually or at the start and end of the contract) free or discounted tuition for your children (usually up to a maximum of two) and visa costs covered.

If you are interested and sufficiently qualified and would like more information, please send your CV to me at james@worldwide-teaching.com.
