Full-Time Outreach Tutor

Location: Tameside

Position: Full-Time Tutor (SEMH - Social, Emotional, and Mental Health)

Start date: ASAP until end of academic year.

Cover people are recruiting a compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic outreach tutor in respected and celebrated school in Tameside.  The school are a dedicated SEMH school in Tameside, committed to providing tailored support to students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. They focus on creating an inclusive, nurturing environment that helps students thrive both in school and in the community. They are looking for a passionate, adaptable, and experienced tutor to join their team on a full-time basis.

Role Overview: Are you passionate about making a difference in students' lives? As a Tutor at our SEMH school, you'll have the rewarding responsibility of delivering engaging and impactful lessons to students with diverse needs. You'll teach both within our supportive school environment and extend your reach through our outreach program, working closely with students in various settings. Your role will also include transporting students in your car, ensuring they receive the support they need wherever they are.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored tutoring sessions to students with SEMH needs, both in school and offsite.
  • Plan, prepare, and adapt lessons based on individual student needs and abilities.
  • Provide targeted support to improve academic progress, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure students’ holistic development.
  • Deliver offsite tutoring and outreach activities, providing support in community settings.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes self-esteem and confidence.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience in working with students with SEMH needs or similar challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across both in-school and offsite settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan effectively.
  • A passion for helping vulnerable students reach their full potential.

Desirable:

  • Experience in delivering outreach support or working in alternative education settings.
  • A background in teaching or supporting students with complex emotional or behavioural needs.
